FAQ

The Family Chiropractor FAQ

Q: Who can chiropractic hep?

A:Improved nerve communication between the brain and body can help nearly everyone. We modify our techniques to help kids, the elderly and those with special needs.

Q: How long will it take?

A: Since chiropractic care depends upon the healing abilities of each individual, we will always tell you how long it is going to take based upon our experiences with patients just like you.

Q: Will I have to go forever?

A: Once patients feel as well as they can, most opt to continue with some type of regular chiropractic checkups. Maintaning your “spinal hygiene” helps to ensure that your spine will support the quality of life you desire. Our job is to offer the very best care. Your job is to decide how much of it you want.

Q: What if my insurance doesn’t cover chiropractic?

A: We are in-network with most health plans. However, a large percentage of our patients do not use health insurance. Good health is about personal responsibility. While insurance companies can be helpful, don’t allow a corporation to make decisions about what to do with your family’s healthcare.

Q: Where is your office located?

A: The Family Chiropractor is located at 44476 Hayes, about ¼ mile south of Hall Road (M-59) in Clinton Township , Michigan .

Q: Who can be a chiropractic patient?

A: Anybody can! Babies in their first years of life to senior citizens in their seventies and eighties can benefit from chiropractic treatment.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?

A: We certainly do! We accept MasterCard and Visa .

Q: What is chiropractic?

A: Chiropractic is a healing art based upon manipulation of the spinal column to treat abnormalities in the nervous system. Derived from the Greek word “chiropraktikos,” meaning “effective treatment by hand,” chiropractic is built upon the foundation that holds that good health is inextricably tied to a normally functioning nervous system. Consequently, chiropractic treats disorders with focused musculoskeletal adjustments rather than drugs or chemicals.

Q: Is chiropractic treatment safe?

A: Absolutely! Chiropractic is proven safe for patients of all ages and physical conditions. Chiropractic is based on noninvasive, natural methods that are as safe, if not more so, as any medical treatments for the same problems.

Q: Is chiropractic treatment painful?

A: One of the many misconceptions perpetuated by those who have never seen a chiropractor is that it must be painful – after all, it means twisting the neck and spine! Nothing could be further from the truth. Chiropractic treatments are administered by skilled, trained doctors and are not painful. The only discomfort a patient might feel lasts only during the few seconds of the adjustment and is quite rare.

Q: How long does a typical treatment regimen last?

A: Understandably, treatment varies from patient to patient because every case is unique. Minor, first-time injuries can often be treated in just a few visits, while more serious problems may require months of steady treatment. The doctors at The Family Chiropractor will suggest a regimen geared for your specific problems and will only offer you treatment they feel is necessary.

Q: What can I expect during my first visit?

A: Before you see the doctor during your first visit, we will ask you basic questions concerning the nature of your discomfort, a brief medical and family history and the nature of any other treatments you have had for your problem. Next, a physical examination will be performed to assess your condition and may include x-rays and other diagnostic procedures. The doctor will also perform a spinal examination and analysis to determine the best course of action. At the Family Chiropractor, we strive to make your first visit quick, painless and relaxing.

Q: Can chiropractic treat asthma?

A: Yes! Chiropractic treatment has been proven in numerous studies to be helpful in the treatment of asthma. Because it is safe and medication-free, chiropractic treatment for asthma does not have any unwanted side effects.

Q: Can chiropractic treat neck pain?

A: It certainly can. The neck is the most vulnerable part of the spine. Consequently, injuries to it are not uncommon. Chiropractic treats the vertebral subluxations in the spine to alleviate pain throughout the neck and the rest of the body.

Q: How can chiropractic treatment benefit senior citizens?

A: Numerous studies have consistently shown the benefits senior citizens can reap from proper chiropractic care. Senior citizens who receive frequent chiropractic treatment spend fewer days in hospitals and nursing homes and tend to be more energetic and active than those who do not receive chiropractic treatment.
